Dick Van Dyke had a really close call yesterday. His car caught fire on the freeway, and someone stopped to help him. The guy pulled him out of the car and got him to safety just before the car EXPLODED.

If you're looking for a fun and exceedingly DANGEROUS way to cool off, check out a YouTube video of three Russian guys in a construction excavator. They're sitting in the bucket while the guy operating it spins them around in circles at a quarry, drags them through a huge pool of water, and dunks them over and over again. It looks like a lot of fun . . . and also like a good way to DROWN.

WWE Superstar Darren Young was at the airport in Los Angeles the other day, and a photographer asked him a dumb question about gay wrestlers. And Darren decided to pick that moment to come out but he's not the first. this happened in the 1980's.

Everybody hates a backseat driver. So this guy might be one of the most-hated people in the world. He's what they call a co-driver, in rally car racing. Basically a navigator. So it's his job to call out directions and instructions . . . but this guy takes it WAY too seriously. (His name is Vivek Ponnusamy, and the driver is Samir Thapar. This is from a video recorded during the 2013 Rally of Coimbatore, in India. And the guy never stops shouting the whole time. The funniest part is how Samir keeps barking, "Shut up!" every few seconds throughout the whole race.

With school getting ready to start up again, Jimmy Kimmel did some street interviews and asked people to try to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. No one came close.
The Pledge of Allegiance was written in August 1892 by the socialist minister Francis Bellamy (1855-1931). It was originally published in The Youth's Companion on September 8, 1892. Bellamy had hoped that the pledge would be used by citizens in any country.
vIn its original form it read:

"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."In 1923, the words, "the Flag of the United States of America" were added. At this time it read:

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Bellamy's daughter objected to this alteration. Today it reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."Section 4 of the Flag Code states:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

The original Bellamy salute, first described in 1892 by Francis Bellamy, who authored the original Pledge, began with a military salute, and after reciting the words "to the flag," the arm was extended toward the flag.

At a signal from the Principal the pupils, in ordered ranks, hands to the side, face the Flag. Another signal is given; every pupil gives the flag the military salute — right hand lifted, palm downward, to a line with the forehead and close to it. Standing thus, all repeat together, slowly, "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands; one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all." At the words, "to my Flag," the right hand is extended gracefully, palm upward, toward the Flag, and remains in this gesture till the end of the affirmation; whereupon all hands immediately drop to the side.

The Youth's Companion, 1892

Shortly thereafter, the pledge was begun with the right hand over the heart, and after reciting "to the Flag," the arm was extended toward the Flag, palm-down.

In World War II, the salute too much resembled the Nazi salute, so it was changed to keep the right hand over the heart throughout.

A guy from Columbus, Ohio was arrested for driving drunk early Sunday morning . . . and didn't even TRY to pass his sobriety test. First he told the cops that he'd fail it, because he'd been drinking. Then he decided to show them some DANCE moves. And finally, he demonstrated his motorboating skills on an imaginary cougar. And it was all captured on the cop's dashcam video.

A fan at a minor league baseball game in Dayton, Ohio made an impressive diving catch to snag a home run on Wednesday night. And he had zero concern for his own well being, because he dove straight into a concrete WALL. He popped right back up though, so apparently he was fine.

Alex Rodriguez is suspended from baseball until the end of next season. He'll be almost 40 by the time he's eligible to play again and got hit with a 211-game suspension yesterday because of steroids.  This morning he talked to Brady about it...

My opinion? Kick him out. He cheats. Make an example of him. Baseball needs to tak charge of the situation and what they've done in the past has not worked. Show us it's not about money. Show us it's about the game and propper sportsmanship. Show us why baseball was so loved before the corruption and cheating. Ban all steroid users for life after the first offense. No 2nd chances in baseball....and no crying.

-Brady

What's your thoughts? Should Alex be banned for life or is this punishment fair?

Last week, an 18-year-old woman in England was flying to Spain and wearing cutoff jean shorts. But the airline told her they were TOO SHORT, and she had to change. The woman says they wouldn't let her leave the gate to change . . . so she had to strip them off in front of everyone. Now she's thinking about filing a legal complaint.
YOU BE THE JUDGE....ARE THEY TOO SHORT?

Last week, 46-year-old John Bansley of Avon Lake, Ohio was cited on an open container charge after he bought a six pack of Milwaukee's Best beer at a convenience store and cracked one of them open outside. He was drunk, so the cops dropped him off at his ex-wife's house . . . and gave her custody of the remaining five cans of Milwaukee's Best. And shortly after that . . . John called 911 to report that his ex-wife wouldn't hand over his beer. The 911 dispatcher told him to hang tight and a cop would head over. And THAT'S when he decided to hit on her. John was arrested for misuse of the 911 system. He pleaded guilty and got five days in jail. Here's a clip from John's 911 call.
