It feels like science and technology sometimes focus on problems no one really asked to solve, while some common frustrations we all deal with daily still haven’t been addressed. Someone recently posed the question, “What’s a daily inconvenience that you still can’t believe hasn’t been solved?” The answers are incredibly relatable. Here are the top responses:

  1. “There has to be a better way to package flour.”  Why does it always make a mess the second you open it?
  2. “Printers that can’t reliably print.”  Even after dropping a small fortune on ink, they still don’t work consistently.
  3. “The buildup in lotion and soap pumps.”  The dried-up gunk blocks the pump until pressure builds, and then it shoots out all over the place!
  4. “Cleaning the inside of a windshield.”  It’s so hard to get it streak-free, no matter how much you try.
  5. “Dust accumulation.”  Forget A.I. innovation! Where’s the device that stops dust from settling on every surface at home? (While some high-end air purifiers help, they’re often only effective in one small area.)
  6. “Constantly signing in on websites.”  It’s frustrating having to log in multiple times during a single session, even when you’re just browsing Google and YouTube.
  7. “Mammograms.”  Can we get something less painful? The current machines feel like medieval torture devices. (There are better ones, but they’re expensive and not always covered by insurance.)
  8. “Elevators need a cancel button.”  Press the wrong floor? Too bad! Why can’t we cancel a floor button once it’s been pressed?
  9. “Self-cleaning toilets.”  We have self-cleaning ovens—why not self-cleaning toilets?
  10. “Itchiness.”  It’s such an annoying issue, and medications rarely work, especially for chronic cases that keep people up at night.
