Jeff’s Breakfast Tour is Underway

SO many cool places to go.  A while back on the morning show, I asked for suggestions on everyone’s favorite (non-chain) breakfast stops.  WOW!  What a list that turned out to be.  We’ve been to the Mineral Restaurant and Courthouse Diner.  We went to Lafayette Diner but so did ALL of you so since that was slammed we made it to another stop on the tour at the Mason Dixon Cafe.  On the second trip to Lafayette Diner, we finally got to try it.

You guys have made some fantastic suggestions making this a lot of fun and a bit of an adventure with some quirks along the way.  I actually carry cash and make fun of my friends who never have any money with them.  Well, guess what.  I have come close to not being able to have breakfast after making the trip to a few of these places that have a CASH ONLY policy.

Luckily I was holding just enough to cover breakfast and didn’t make the drive to Mineral for nothing.  Fun staff and good food there.  That was our first stop and we’re on a quest to hit them all.  Courthouse Cafe was another great stop on the tour and we’re going back to try their pizza.  The Lafayette Diner was a nice surprise too.

We’ve actually been BACK to Lafayette because the food was great, but while my wife thinks pancakes are just OK, she went NUTS for their pancakes that came as part of my Belly Buster breakfast.  The Belly Buster isn’t like those restaurants that make you eat some record setting amount to get through it.  It’s just a really good (generous) portion.  And yes, their pancakes are uncommonly good.

We liked the Mason Dixon Cafe too.  My wife was a big fan of their Mimosas.

I wasn’t a big fan of their biscuits and gravy, but their barbecue bacon was fantastic.  Fun to sit outside there for breakfast by the way. Great service.  Amy’s Cafe was a huge hit with us too.  Great food, fun service, wowie-cool historic building and just great all around.  Again, sit outside if possible.

Paradise Diner was our stop this past Saturday.  Another cool old building with good food.  Liked that a lot too.  When I’m done with all of this, I’ll probably rank all of these from favorites on down.  Lot’s of places to hit yet.

Your suggestions have been a real hit and I can’t wait to make it to the rest of the breakfast spots on this list.  As you can tell, I’m a snappy dresser on Saturday mornings.  But after each of these stops, it’s usually a lot of yard work for me or some chainsaw action out in the woods as we clear some property for my wife’s horses.  It will be fun to watch these photos change as I double my body weight hitting all of the places you guys have recommended.  The tour continues.  I should have asked who has the best celery sticks or something.  I could have weighed the same at the end of the tour.
