Blood Drive at VFW Post 3103 In Memory of Sgt Kenny Lyon
October 28

Sgt Kenny Lyon lost a leg in Iraq in 2006 when an RPG landed 9 yards behind him. He received over 100 pints of blood. He had more than 50 surgeries in the 15 years that followed. He struggled with constant phantom pain daily. He encouraged all who met him and loved to make sure whomever he was talking to walked away from him feeling better than when they started talking. He gave lots to the community and helped a school build a playground. He felt that since God blessed him abundantly he wanted to bless others abundantly. He was a very bright light in so many lives. In September of 2021 he went to an urgent care for pain and they told him he had a blood clot and to go to the ER. Through a multitude of mistakes, and human error, sadly Kenny died on September 9th from the blood clot the hospital was unable to find.
We are remembering him and hoping to max out the appointments for donating blood on Saturday, October 28th, at the VFW Post on Princess Anne Street. We are right on the corner! Just look for the green cannon!
Thank you for donating blood as our nations supply is critically low with only a one day supply.
Please use the Red Cross App or go to redcrossblood.org to make your appointment.
Everyone that donates will get a 10.00 gift card!
