Graham Nash, Billy Gibbons to play Gregg Allman tribute concert in NYC next month

Ian Rawn; Amy GranthamAn intimate, star-studded concert saluting the late Gregg Allman and his final album, Southern Blood, will be held January 24 at the City Winery in New York.

Graham Nash and ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons are among the musicians who will take part in the show, which has been dubbed Southern Blood: Celebrating Gregg Allman.

Other artists on the bill include acclaimed country/bluegrass singer and fiddle player Alison Krauss, Gregg’s son Devon, ex-Black Crowes member Jackie Greene and Luther & Cody Dickinson of North Mississippi Allstars.

Various ticket options are available for the show, including reserved, standing-room and VIP dinner packages.

Allman died in May at age 69 from complications of liver cancer. Southern Blood was released in September. As previously reported, the record received a Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album, while its lead track, “My Only True Friend,” is up for the Best American Roots Song trophy.

Meanwhile, this Friday, December 8, marks what would have been Gregg’s 70th birthday.
