A police chase that started in King George County on Tuesday morning ended with a crash in Caroline.
The situation started shortly after 10 a.m. when a resident of the Hopyard neighborhood off of Port Conway Road in King George reported a suspicious man at a neighbor's house, said Lt. Chris Giles with the King George Sheriff's Office.
A deputy responding to the scene saw the suspect's vehicle, a Chevrolet Cavalier, and tried to stop it. But, Giles said, the suspect sped off on Port Conway Road.
The deputy pursued the Cavalier, and was soon joined by another county deputy, Giles said. He said the suspect led the deputies onto Routes 2 and 17 in Caroline County, where sheriff's deputies from that county joined the pursuit.
The chase ended when the Cavalier crashed near Portobago Trail, Giles said.
The suspect, Andrew J. Harris, 24, of Hustle, Va., was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Giles said the man's injuries didn't appear to be life threatening.
Giles said charges are pending and that the investigation is ongoing.
Virginia State Police are handling the crash investigation.
